I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Just saw something that I need to rant about. This particular deviation was nice, very nice actually and well worth a fav. So I fav it and then notice at the bottom of the Artists comments it says:

Please comment if you fav.

Ok, so I'm scrolling down to the comments box and I notice that this deviant hasn't replied to any of those comments that s/he was so insistent that people leave. Well, eat worms and die! If you can't be bothered to reply to the comments you get, you're in no position to whine about not getting any. </rant>

I have a couple of things in the pipeline – more on that if/when they happen – just wanted to say that I'm kind of excited but I don't want to take the energy out of it by speaking too soon. In the meantime I've been busy with gaffa tape and cardboard and made one of these [link] Sweet!

I am always so far behind with comments, etc - but I try. I don't have a problem with someone who gets 1000's of comments not replying - I can see how that would be just too time consuming. What got me was someone insisting that you comment and then not replying - that just seems a bit too one-sided

and I just had a great laugh over your rant, and couldn't agree with you more. He said that he is just as happy with a fave, because most comments are variations of "I like your work" and a fave says the same thing. I'm notorious for faving-and-running, because I'd rather use the same to fave ten art works than to comment on one. I feel guilty spending too much time on one deviation because there is such a backlog of others that are waiting to be viewed.

Do you try black straw (use to drink juice from glass)? How it work your new toy for sb800?

The black straws probably gives a better result but much more fiddly to make. The one I made works but is a bit too narrow-beam. Maybe next time I'll have a go with the black-straws
